Loose vs Bouncy Curls

I get asked quite often on how I curl my hair. I do it a few different ways. If I want those loose, beachy waves, I curl my hair all the same direction and leave the ends out. If I want the bouncy, full of life curls, I curl each piece a different direction. I also use a small curling iron so I get done faster! (If you can't tell by all of my videos or tutorials, I like things that are fast and easy!) As I promised on facebook yesterday,  here's the video- enjoy! (oh and at the 5:45 mark, my husband peaks his head around trying to figure out why I'm talking to myelf in the bathroom!)

Loose or Bouncy.... Which one do you like better?
   Much love! =)

P.S.- I hope everyone has a fun and safe (and hopefully spooky!) Halloween!!

Hippy Hair

One of my favorite ways to do my hair because it's so easy, is natural hair with a twist. Or braids in this case! I did my hair with my natural wave (if you want a little more curl and just have a wave like my hair, a previous blog post shows you how!) Well today I just scrunched my hair and put in Curly Sexy Hair's Full on Curl product.

I let it air dry while doing random things around the house and then did two fishtail braids, seen here. Pin them with 2 bobby pins that criss cross in the back of your hair and go on your way!! Here's the finished result!  (My hubby calls it my hippy hair!)

Happy Monday Ya'll! Much love! =)

Love in Illinois

This past weekend (and half week) my husband and I took a trip to Illinois. First stop was Chicago for a few days to celebrate an old high school friends dirty 30 birthday and then off to Rockton for another high school friends wedding. The wedding was gorgeous! A beautiful outdoor wedding. The weather was perfect and I give credit to Chris' mother who just recently became an angel. Her love was shown through the sun that was beaming down on all of us. It was definitely a love filled day and I feel lucky to have been apart of it. Congrats again Chris and Suzi!

The day after the wedding, after the hangover wore off, we drove to Sterling, IL to visit Nick's grandma. She is the sweetest and sassiest lady I've ever met! We spent the whole afternoon going through a storage room of hers. We found so many old things. I felt like we were on an episode of Storage Wars. There were tons of WWII things and I even found a 1913 high school yearbook! After listening to many stories of "back in the day...", we went to Applebee's. Her pick for her 91st birthday! 91!!! And she still gets around and lives on her own! Such a strong woman!

It was such a great trip. I'm glad that we went and celebrated so much in such a small time! It's weekends like this that make me love life so much more! It's family and friends that make the world go round. I am one very lucky gal to have so much love in my life! =). Here's a photo recap of my weekend!

Stupid tolls along the way! Make sure you have plenty of change if driving to Chicago!!

Locks of Love

Over the years, I have had the honor of cutting off some beautiful long hair so that it can be donated to Locks of Love. It is such a great organization that takes the hair that has been donated and creates gorgeous wigs for children suffering from any kind of medical hair loss. I know it's hard to chop that hair off, but it's such a wonderful cause!

The other night Sophia came in and she said she wanted to donate her long locks. (It's never a dull appointment with her and I love it!) There may have been a few tears of shock after the first cut, but dang girl- she can rock a short cut too!! Here are the pics of her new do!

Now if you have been thinking about donating yours, (you should!) a few things you need to know are,
- the hair you take off has to be at least 10 inches
-the hair can be colored or permed
-it cannot be hilighted though
-I give a $10 discount to Locks of Love donators!
Click here for more info and pictures of the recipients of the wigs!
